Tunnel Ram has put together a gallery of Pontiac’s finest full-sized models from the glory years. We start with the fabulous 1959 models that ushered in the hugely successful ‘wide-track’ advertising campaign, and continue through the mid ‘70s. After that, all American cars pretty much looked alike so we stop while the going was good. In between those years, Pontiac made some of the most beautiful big cars ever to grace the road. Some would say the very best looking cars ever made.
Pontiac’s youth-oriented advertising campaigns of the 1960s were managed by McManus, John & Adams - the company helping start the whole muscle car craze with their marketing of the GTO. Much of the advertising art of the finest years of Pontiac was done by Fitzpatrick and Kaufman who created what is simply the most beautiful automotive art ever made - so feast your eyes on the images below to see what we’re talking about (if you don’t know already). We’ve focused on Pontiac’s full-sized models including the Bonneville, Catalina, Star Chief, Grand Ville and of course the GTO’s big brother - the mighty 2+2 hardtop muscle cars.
