The original 1966 Charger was a modified Coronet with a fastback roof. It was the same approach Plymouth used with the Valiant-into-a-Barracuda-trick a couple of years earlier.
The Charger was further differentiated with stylish full width tail lights, retractable headlights, and a complete set of gauges with electroluminescent lighting. For 1968 the Charger got a unique new body that not only remains one of the all time great automotive styling efforts, but is one of the most iconic of all muscle cars. From 1971 another new body appeared that added weight and length but still looked muscular.
Tunnel Ram has curated a unique gallery of vintage, original Dodge Charger advertising images that once appeared in magazines across America. Take a look back in time via our gallery of authentic print ads of the greatest Chargers from ‘66 through to the mid 1970s.
