The Shelby & Cobra Archive: 1962–1970

The Shelby legend was forged in the heat of 1960s competition through a mix of raw American V8 power and Carroll Shelby’s relentless spirit. This archive captures the high-performance peak of the "Total Performance" era—documenting the marketing and machines that took on the world's best and won.

The Snake & The Stallion Explore the ads and promotional materials that defined an era of speed:

  • The AC Cobra (260, 289 & 427): High-resolution scans of the car that started it all—the featherweight British chassis married to Ford’s brutal V8s, culminating in the flared arches of the legendary 427 S/C.

  • Shelby Mustang G.T. 350 & G.T. 500: Relive the evolution of the Mustang from the "street-legal racer" 1965 G.T. 350 to the big-block dominance of the G.T. 500KR (King of the Road).

  • Hertz "Rent-A-Racer": A look at the famous G.T. 350H program that allowed any weekend warrior with a driver’s license to get behind the wheel of a Shelby.

Models Featured: Cobra 289 · Cobra 427 · G.T. 350 · G.T. 500 · G.T. 350H · G.T. 500KR
