Dodge took it’s time coming up with a direct competitor with the pony cars from Ford and Chevy, but when they did, they didn’t do it by halves: enter the 1970 Challenger. Low and w-i-d-e, the Challenger looked menacing standing still, and if it was packing 383, 426 or 440 cubes - it was ready to take on all comers. If you wanted muscle and luxury - you could order the SE with limousine style small rear window, vinyl roof and deluxe interior. Offered as a convertible and coupe, the Challenger was as beautiful as it was brutal. Sadly, Dodge discontinued the Challenger after 1974 due to slow sales and a move away from muscle cars.
Take a look back at the few brief years in the early ‘70s when the Challenger made a name for itself as one of the most brutal muscle cars ever made. Tunnel Ram has curated a gallery of the best of the original print advertising images so you can enjoy these stunning cars all over again.
