The Imperial Collection: America’s Most Carefully Built Car (1955–1975)

From 1955 through 1970, Imperial was established as a standalone luxury marque, designed to compete directly with Cadillac and Lincoln. Even after being reintegrated into the mainline Chrysler lineup in 1971, it remained the ultimate expression of Mopar engineering and opulence.

The Pinnacle of Mopar Luxury This curated archive of original print advertisements documents the "Senior Car" lineage through two distinct eras of design:

  • The Exner Masterpieces (1955–1963): High-resolution scans featuring the "Forward Look" era, defined by soaring tailfins, the legendary FirePower Hemi V8, and the birth of the iconic LeBaron nameplate.

  • The Fuselage & Land Yacht Era (1964–1975): Explore the massive, majestic styling of the late 1960s and the final, ultra-luxurious 1970s models featuring the 440 TNT V8 and the sophisticated Torsion-Quiet ride.

A Resource for the Imperial Collector Whether you are researching the unique free-standing "gunsight" headlights of the early '60s or the interior options of a 1975 LeBaron, these authentic advertisements serve as a primary visual record of the Imperial’s prestige.
