Revealed in 1961 to instant global acclaim, the Jaguar E-Type—known as the XK-E in the United States—remains an undisputed pinnacle of automotive design. Born from the DNA of the triple Le Mans-winning D-Type racer, it paired aerodynamics with advanced race-bred engineering, including independent rear suspension and inboard disc brakes. Styled by Malcolm Sayer under the guidance of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons, the car famously earned praise from Enzo Ferrari as "the most beautiful car ever made."
Fast, glamorous, and remarkably affordable compared to its exotic rivals, the E-Type became the definitive "it-car" for celebrities and enthusiasts on both sides of the Atlantic.
Series I (1961–1968): Launched with the legendary 3.8-litre twin-cam straight-six, upgrading to a refined 4.2-litre engine and a modern all-synchromesh gearbox in 1965.
Series II (1968–1971): Introduced safety and comfort refinements alongside a longer-wheelbase 2+2 coupe configuration.
Series III (1971–1974): Concluded the legendary run as a muscular, luxurious grand tourer powered by Jaguar’s magnificent new 5.3-litre V12 engine.
