The Chrysler VIP & Chrysler by Chrysler Archive (1967–1976)

Before the "Chrysler by Chrysler" reigned as the titan of 1970s luxury, the VIP established Tonsley Park’s reputation for local prestige. This archive documents the full lineage of Chrysler Australia’s dedicated flagship models through high-resolution original advertisements and promotional imagery.

The Evolution of Australian Opulence

From the executive VE-VG series to the long-wheelbase CH-CK era, explore the cars that challenged the world’s best:

  • The VIP Era (1967–1971): Tracing the VIP from its roots as a high-trim VE luxury sedan to the stretched, 115-inch wheelbase VF and VG models that introduced quad-headlights and standard V8 power to the class.

  • The Chrysler by Chrysler (1971–1976): The CH, CJ, and CK series reigned as the first dedicated long-wheelbase local flagships. Featuring the standard 360 V8, these were the largest and most powerful luxury cars in their segment.

  • The Rare Hardtops: View documentation of the ultra-exclusive CH two-door hardtop—with fewer than 500 produced, it remains one of the most coveted Australian Chrysler collectibles.

  • Executive Innovation: Explore the debut of "power everything," from electric seats to the 1973 introduction of Electronic Ignition, all wrapped in a sophisticated, American-inspired "fuselage" design.

Though replaced in 1976 by the standard-wheelbase CL Regal SE, the VIP and Chrysler by Chrysler remain a testament to an era when Australia built spacious, high-powered executive sedans of world-class stature.
